In a world where consumers and investors increasingly value companies that prioritize social and environmental impact, B Corp certification has emerged as a gold standard for responsible business. Managed by the nonprofit B Lab, this certification recognizes companies that meet rigorous standards of social and environmental performance, accountability, and transparency.

In 2024, Wild Rose completed the B Corp Impact assessment and we are very proud to say we achieved certification in June this year! This is a major set forwards for us and will mark a significant milestone on our sustainability journey.

What is B Corp Certification?

B Corp certification is more than a label—it’s a commitment. Unlike certifications that focus solely on a single aspect, such as sustainability or fair trade, B Corp evaluates a company’s entire operation. To achieve certification, businesses undergo a thorough assessment that examines their impact on workers, customers, communities, and the environment.

The certification is available to businesses of all sizes and industries, provided they meet the strict benchmarks set by B Lab. Certified companies are legally required to consider the impact of their decisions on all stakeholders, not just shareholders, ensuring long-term sustainability and ethical practices.

Why is B Corp Certification Important?

B Corp certification is significant for several reasons:

1. Accountability and Transparency: Certified companies commit to high standards of governance and are required to publicly share their impact reports, fostering trust with stakeholders.

2. Environmental Stewardship: B Corps demonstrate leadership in sustainability by adopting practices that minimize environmental harm and promote resource conservation.

3. Social Equity: By prioritizing fair wages, diversity, and community engagement, B Corps champion social justice and equitable economic growth.

4. Market Differentiation: The certification allows businesses to stand out in competitive markets, attracting socially conscious consumers and investors.

The Global Impact of B Corps

Since its inception in 2006, the B Corp movement has grown into a global community of over 6,000 companies across 80 countries and 150 industries. These include iconic brands like Patagonia, Ben & Jerry’s, and The Body Shop, as well as smaller enterprises committed to doing business differently.

Becoming a B Corp

The certification process begins with the B Impact Assessment, a comprehensive tool that evaluates a company’s practices across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. To achieve certification, businesses must score at least 80 out of 200 points. Recertification every three years ensures continuous improvement.

The Future of Business

B Corp certification is more than a badge—it’s a movement that redefines business success. As more companies join this community, the path toward a more equitable, inclusive, and sustainable economy becomes clearer. For businesses looking to align profit with purpose, becoming a B Corp is a step toward meaningful change.
